It is still June, but the temperture in Tokyo is crazy.
I used to say like, “if you visit Japan during the summer, you may want to bring a sun umbrella and a hat with you.”,
but today I may have to say “Even before summer officially starts, you may want to bring a sun umbrella and a hat with you because it gets unbearably hot.”
Yesterday was Sunday, and my youngest daughter asked me to take her to the park.
I said, “No. We will melt.”
Instead, I took her to The National Museum of Western Art and National Museum of Nature and Science at Ueno.
These places are my favorite spots, especially for spending holidays with my kids.
The museum building was designed by Le Corbusier, said to be one of the pioneers of modern architecture.
In 2016, it was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of ‘The Architectural Work of Le Corbusier.’
Inside the museum, you can see a wide variety of Western paintings, including religious art and works by famous artists such as Picasso and Monet. There’s also a painting by Van Gogh—it’s small, but truly lovely.
After the art museum, we enoyed the National Museum of Nature and Science.
There’s also a dinosaur exhibit, so if you’re interested in the history of the Earth or living creatures, this museum is highly recommended. It’s also a popular spot for children.
It was a hot Sunday, but I was able to spend the day comfortably indoors, and it turned out to be a great day.
