I took my kids to a special exhibition at the Tokyo National Museum in Ueno. In the exhibition, you enter an immersive theater and watch a video that explains how Japan’s unique sense of art has developed over thousands of years. It showed how the values passed down by our ancestors are deeply rooted in modern Japanese art culture and anime, and it was interesting.

This year marks 80 years since the end of the war. If you are interested in learning about everyday life during the wartime period in Tokyo, I recommend visiting the Showa-kan Museum near Yasukuni Shrine. The museum displays household items used by people at that time and posters displayed throughout the town. Through these exhibits, you will know how the war gradually changed people’s daily lives. Although there is not much information written in English, I believe you'll still be able to feel and understand something. #tourintokyo

I went to Kiyosumi Teien Garden, where you can experience the traditional Japanese atmosphere of the Meiji period.
You can enjoy the beautiful view, and it’s also fun to see turtles popping up here and there😍 There’s also a public library within walking distance. I really love its architecture, the building was originally constructed in 1909 and renovated two years ago. So lovely! #exploretokyo

Last weekend, I took my daughter to Imado Shrine.

Last weekend, I took my daughter to Imado Shrine.
She's a big fan of Natsume Yujincho(#夏目友人帳 ), a Japanese anime about Yokai (supernatural creatures), and she had always wanted to visit the shrine because, along with other beckoning cats, it enshrines a cat named "Nyanko-Sensei" appears in the series. The area around this shrine is known for Imado-yaki, a traditional style of pottery. Long ago, local people began making beckoning cats using this pottery technique, which is why this shrine is often considered the birthplace of the beckoning cats.
(*Gotokuji Temple, located in another part of Tokyo, is also known as the origin of the beckoning cat.) In addition to the beckoning cat, the shrine is also believed to bring good luck in love and relationships.
So, it’s not only popular with cat lovers, but also with couples and those who are hoping to find love🥰 #imadoshrine

My friend, who knows the Kamakura area very well, took me there and showed me around. We visited several interesting spots, starting in Kita-Kamakura area.
After exploring some historical sites and enjoying lunch, we walked into the main part of Kamakura city. Although it was a rainy day and the rain was pouring down, the sound of the rain with the frogs’ singing felt so refreshing. I could truly feel the power of nature. #kamakuralunch

Guess what? I went to see sumo tournament for the first time today!❤️‍🔥
My hometown Usa-city is actually a place where sumo is really popular and it was common that every elementary and junior high school had its own sumo ring. But as a kid, I wasn't very interested in it. Now that I've grown up, I have come to understand the depth of sumo culture and finally realized how interesting sumo really is. Sumo has its roots in Shinto, so in the performances, you can feel the spirit of Japan that our ancestors cherished. Of course, the matches themselves were super exciting! I enjoyed a lot!! If you ever get the chance to watch sumo, make sure to try the Chanko Nabe, a hot pot that sumo wrestlers eat, in the basement. I tried it too, and it was really delicious!❣️ #sumotournament

Annual Rose Festival in the Kyu Furukawa Garden (旧古河庭園). I had a wonderful time surrounded by the scent of roses. The building was beautiful, and beyond the rose garden, there was also a Japanese-style garden that made me refreshed. ＊The Rose Festival is being held until June 30.

*This photo was taken in 2017. I used to work in Aomori, providing city information to tourists from overseas. There are many beautiful places to visit, but I especially recommend including Hirosaki Park in your itinerary if you have a chance to visit Aomori during cherry blossom season. According to the official sakura forecast, the peak bloom this year is expected to start around April 25.
The park will be crowded with many tourists during that time, but it’s definitely worth visiting! The cherry blossoms are so stunningly beautiful that you’ll never forget them.
From my experience, I also suggest bringing a jacket, as it can get quite chilly in the evenings. #Aomori
